i have taken it upon myself, as a little challenge, to try and draw every single overwatch hero, so here are 5 of them! im doing them in the hero gallery order, but i AM doing the omnics last, as i struggle allot with those. plus it would be cuter to have them all on one canvas together :3 still not a human artist (i drew lots of cats) so this is good practice.. i think

I am genuinely so freaking hyped for this game. I am really surprised at how much effort they are putting in!!

Obviously it hasn't come out yet and all, but from what I've seen it looks great!

Nevertheless.

The art style is lovely!! And very free as well, I really like how they are working with the proportions, a comic book feel matters a lot, it allows characters like Doom to feel so imposing. It is also very fun to see how all the movements are very swift, from what I saw even in game.

I can see the Overwatch inspiration, the anime inspiration but also just fun yk? Obviously the game needs to be cartoony to allow for all types of skins down the line, but allowing themselves to go hard on the effects and scenarios really hypes you up to want to be in that world, and to want to be your favorite hero.

Think about it, when your team wants to give you a callout they'll call you: "Iron Man, Spidey, Venom, Doom, Strange". That's fun haha.

It also does well one of my personal biggest peeves, an Iron Man Suit that's bulky and done well, I feel some artists overdo it and they give him what feels more like a mech, he's always meant to be sleek, cause that's Tony. They struck a lovely balance.

And the idea that the story has a Future Dr. Doom vs a Present Dr. Doom is hilariously in character, imagine being the Goat to such a point that a future version of you that has more knowledge is still challenged by yourself.

Nowadays it’s so wild to think you were once very intimidated by the ninja cyborg, a skilled hero who seemed far too complex and powerful for you to be anywhere near his league

But now he calls you his closest friend, and you both are nearly entirely inseparable

You’re far more extroverted than he is, with a sense of humor he likes and an energy that makes him think of himself when he was much younger

You’re familiar to him, something like a human embodiment of nostalgia that he wasn’t about to let go of anytime soon

You brought out the excitable side of him— even when he should be focused, and he usually is, just a glance from your direction makes him want to laugh. Some unspoken inside joke that only you both understood by merely a look

He always tried to match your vibe: if you were amped up, so was he, and if you were angry about something, he was sharing the same frustrations. (But sometimes he’d help bring you down a couple notches, especially if you were feeling particularly negative)

You both are full grown adults, you pay taxes and stress about healthcare. But that’s not stopping you from casually tapping his shoulder and whispering ‘tag’ after leaving a war meeting, only to immediately end up chased down a hall with a challenging “come on!” coming from behind you

He always finds you in the middle of the day to have lunch with him, both of you taking turns on deciding what to eat. Even if either of you don’t particularly like the other’s choice, you’ll always go. Made for some good pictures when one of you were trying something new

He didn’t take off his mask any other time except to share meals. He has a huge appreciation that you never asked about it, or requested to see his face. As hyper as you were, you wordlessly respected his privacy and that made him feel all the more closer to you

He loves hearing you talk. The stories of your youth, before you came to overwatch, were nothing short of entertaining. Even if it was a particularly sad or traumatizing event, the way you’d reiterate these things made it easy to hear— and sometimes laugh at, if humor was the way you’d cope with certain happenings

And he’d feel comfortable being able to do the same

Every now and again he’d come by your room unannounced as night fell, and just scroll through social media while laying on your bed. Just so he could be in your space and hear you talk— or chill in the silence (but seldom were you quiet for long)

Genji enjoys the peace of quiet. But there was so much comfort when you filled a space with your noise, announcing something as childish as “pillow fight” in the midst of the lounge and tossing something soft at the nearest person with all your might

He’d had such good behavior until you came along. What a cool and collected ninja he was, but you just had to come in and ruin it— now he’s known again as the same troublemaker the young ‘Sparrow’ was in Hanamura

He felt invincible with you. The only regret he had being your friend, was that he wished he had met you sooner

I have low to severe functioning autism. Meaning I need help from those outside of my own self. Basically help with my day to day life and for scary situations such as talking to strangers IRL. Or complex decisions such as bank details or that kinda thing. I need others to help me!

That doesn't mean I'm not smart though. I'm mostly slow. I call it rebooting. So if I ever take a while to respond it's probably because I'm thinking about what to say!

I have bipolar disorder. I deal mostly with mood swings one minute ranting about how cute my cat is the next minute crying over how cute my cat is.

I deal with a lot of doctors! Two or more appointments a week! So if I tell you multiple times over a short span of time I can't talk cause I'm going to the doctor's it's not an overused excuse! It's true!

I have severe anxiety. Meaning any communication at all stresses me out. But I still really wanna try to socialize!

I have memory issues.

So if you wanna talk I'm welcome to it. I'm just really, really, shy. And sometimes I'll panic and end conversations out of nowhere. So if you ever wanna talk all I ask is to be understanding and a lil patient.

And if you talk to me long enough I'll grow to trust you! Which means I'll feel more comfortable and calm when talking to you!

I love art! But it's hard to do since I have some physical problems. But I do it anyway! I mainly draw things I like or request / challenges I receive. Unfairly Maligned Games, Vol. 1

Games I loved that got low scores, review bombed, or have some other weird negative stigma attached to them that I think is unfairly earned.

NOTE: I don't believe in giving games a number score or a letter grade. Maybe I'm just bad at criticism or very easy to please, whatever.

Battleborn [2016]

One of my personal favorite games of all time, Battleborn was advertised as a hero-based PVP shooter with MOBA mechanics that unfortunately came out right alongside one of the biggest games of the PVP shooter genre ever released (Overwatch). Thanks to this poor timing, Battleborn - along with several other similar but different games - was doomed to failure, choked to death by Blizzard's infinite marketing resources and predatory Free Play Weekends that just mysteriously happened to occur on the same weekends as its "competitors" major updates, DLC releases, promo events, etc. Battleborn is no longer available to play ANYWHERE as of January 2021; so few people played it after it was review bombed as "the game your mom bought you when you asked for Ovewatch for xmas" (yes Blizz fans used that fucking Simpsons meme TO DEATH, it's their one joke they have about Battleborn) that the game's servers had to be shuttered so the money could be funneled into Gearbox's much bigger cash cow release at the time, Borderlands 3.

Sour grapes aside, Battleborn was in many ways the game that many people actually wish Overwatch was now. In addition to the PVP game, Battleborn had a co-op campaign mode - complete with a story, cutscenes, and unique character dialogue depending on who you brought to each mission - which could be played for character XP (ability tree unlocks), random gear loot (for use in either campaign mode or PVP), and character cosmetics. The 30 playable characters were wildly varied in terms of design and gameplay, and yes I have to point it out every time, Battleborn had both "cute tiny animal in a mech suit" and playable black women BEFORE Overwatch did. The game also featured a very impressive and highly slept-on visual aesthetic that felt like every Saturday Morning Cartoon I ever grew up with from the 80s/90s, featuring a wild blend of 3D and 2D animation that all the other hero PVP games WISH they could have matched.

And damn, dude. If you like Lore in your video games, there was a TON of material written for this one. And I'm not just talking about supplemental media like a comic or a wiki or an interview about cut content or whatever. I mean there was a metric FUCK TON of additional world-building material right there in the game. Each character came with a set of challenges you could complete which would give you the usual XP and money, but also unlocked a fun little tidbit of Lore about the universe. These came in the form of short stories, recorded conversations, email logs, forum posts, shipping manifests, and even fully voiced segments explaining details about each character, who they were, why they were fighting this war, and some fun little ways of explaining how their weapons or abilities worked. For example, Reyna holds her laser pistol on its side, gangster-style, because she wanted to use a very specific gun model, had its internal parts stripped out so she could use an ammo clip of a much stronger caliber than that model was supposed to be capable of, but in order for the chamber to reload correctly, the gun had to sit a bit cockeyed. And that fun little nugget is just sitting there, right in the game, for you to discover! It's fucking cool as hell!

Now I know you're itching to make a joke about there only being like 15 people who even played the game. Yes, I've seen the Active Player Steam charts meme. It's true, Battleborn had a very small, but also very dedicated, community. Despite that, there were so few people playing that we all ended up making friends with each other pretty quickly. It was one of the friendliest PVP communities I'd ever been a part of. We knew there weren't many people online, so we created an environment that felt comfortable for players new and veteran alike. Many of us are still friends today, outside of the game. Because there were so few people online, we also got to play regularly with Gearbox devs and game writers, and even one of the voice actors responsible for at least three of the game's characters (plus a few NPCs!). We organized and hosted our own events, got official backing from the devs for Double XP weekends, held art jams and hashtag celebrations. Hell, I even used my love of this game to jumpstart my serious foray into music by making an entire album of songs for its characters (complete with a bunch of commissioned fan art from the community)!

So yeah. Rest in peace, Battleborn. You were ahead of your time and the hate and harassment you got from The Gamers was completely undeserved. I will always keep hope alive that you'll come back to us some day. Maybe as a sequel, maybe in a new format. There was so much more left to explore in that universe.

May our battle never end.

I've been less motivated to post here lately because I only seem to have negative things to say about the modern state of Overwatch. I know damn well how annoying that is. In the words of Chris Griffin: "Why are you so fucking negative all the time?"

Alas, Lena "Tracer" Oxton is my original character, and I will forever be upset about how the newer developers don't seem to understand them.

First, Black Cat Tracer still drives me up the wall because they would not wear that, but even in the matching spray and name card, they don't have any of their personality. Lena has always been more puppy-coded than kitty-coded, anyway. I get it, though. Let's appease the homophobic straight men who play this game-- and Tracer, in particular-- for a living because that's where the money's at.

Then, I played Overwatch Classic, and as much as it made me appreciate how far the game has come in the few matches where I played any other hero, it is undeniably a Tracer main's playground. Thus, I played fifteen matches of Tracer and Tracer only for the "Play 15 matches as an Offense hero in Overwatch Classic" challenge, but even in my first match, hearing the old Overwatch 1 voice lines was a breath of fresh air.

They used to sound so cool, calm, and collected. Still excited and enthusiastic, no doubt, but more gentle. The way I described it while ranting to my friends who don't play Overwatch is that Tracer's new lines mostly sound like hyperactive Marvel quips written by someone who only had an "incorrect quotes taken from Vines" grasp on their personality and completely Flanderized them in the process.

This is Overwatch 2 Tracer's writing to me:

Sure, they are a silly and clumsy character at heart, but way to overdo it! Also, I still think the person who wrote the "Caught you staring!" line should be flayed alive in front of their family.

Speaking of Overwatch 1 interactions, I also realized how similar many of Overwatch 2's are. I already ranted in a previous post about how Lena used to be angrier towards Talon members-- take going from "It wouldn't be a problem if you just disappeared forever" to "Whoopsie-daisy, I got locked out of my phone," for example. In the same post, I also ranted about how Lena's new interaction with Illari feels like a duplicate of the one with Ashe.

Now, imagine the disappointment I felt when I heard the interaction they used to have with Genji about their survivor's guilt over Mondatta while playing Overwatch Classic and went through Overwatch 2's interactions to confirm my suspicions that they never take a similar tone in the glorified update latter game. They talk about the Slipstream Incident with D.Va and Mercy in Overwatch 2's spawn room interactions, but both times, they only say "Teehee! I can't believe I got lost in time! My bad!"

I know these newer interactions tend to be written by interns in their early twenties, as said interns would always celebrate on Twitter whenever their work got added to the game. Still, as a fellow early-twenty-something-year-old, the drop in quality to hiring actual, experienced writers shows. The only time we get an idea of how Lena copes with their baffling amount of trauma is when Emily tells us, the audience, in the Story Missions that they often fixate on something for hours straight to distract themself.

Whatever, man. Every time Blizzard makes a joke out of Lena "Tracer" Oxton, I give them a new mental illness in my canon rewrite. There are always new ways to torture my homunculus.

Who trained Widowmaker?

This is me just picking apart voice lines and lore.

First we have these two lines.

These are two voice lines with Ana that she uses when she eliminates Ana, and for when Ana eliminates someone else.

Before, I was speculating that she never clearly stated that she was the best in these lines.

So I thought, 'perhaps she's talking about the person, the one who trained her, she's done it before with Ashe'.

Well, yeah, she has. She does.

But she also says this when she eliminates someone using their ultimate. So she does state that she is the best.

Was it a handful of different people, Overwatch and Talon combined? Not to mention Doomfist also says this up on eliminating her-

'We' either means a handful of people trained her, or it's that one person in Talon that could.

And why on earth haven't any of them* faced Amari in the past? Were they scared? Uninterested? Or did they think it was a waste of time? Did Talon see it as a risk of killing off a valuable resource?

So they send in someone like Widow to do the job for them. Saving face just in case they do end up failing and dying on the other end. It turns into a challenge of allegiance, where Widow comes out victorious after King's Row. And now there's another resource that's just as valuable.

Either way, this is purely a random question that's been bubbling in my head for some time. Could be complete bogus, but I do think it would actually be fun to have a sniper hero with a bit of humility.

I think it'd be hilarious to have this self-critical marksman be the 'best' that Widow talks about, and for them to be the reason we now have a purple cutthroat sleeper agent who shot out Amari's eye.

Someone who's got a better eye for aim but also not pretentious and prideful in their skills, and is always nitpicking their shots and position.

Someone who constantly questions if their aim is a millimeter off or if their hold on the rifle is too tight.

It's a topic up for discussion and could be something, or could be nothing. Could be canon lore, and someone from Blizzard might be spying on my posts or something, or could be an OC. It's probably the latter.

Multiple KH Characters and Their Favorite Video Games!

Destiny Island Trio: 

Sora: Fighting games- preferably Smash. He mains himself main characters (Mario, Link, Kirby, FE protags). He sucks. He is the guy who button mashes and corners players to beat the hell out of them. 

Riku: Fighting games- preferably Tekken or Street Fighter. Mains Jin or Lee. Attempts to be strategic but gets way too competitive fast and is busy mashing all the buttons off the controller. 

Kairi: Way too good at fighting games. But she’d probably play lots of Pokemon or monster collecting games. She has many setups that are both competitive or just fun ones for a fun challenge. 

Sea Salt Family: 

Roxas: Persona fanboy. He hasn’t played 1-2 but he can’t pick a favorite between 3-5. Plays all the spinoffs or has someone else play them for him. His favorite characters are the protagonists. Hears jazz music and assumes this is a Persona 5 reference. 

Xion: Resident DMC and Souls-like player. Girl is a monster on the controllers despite being just being born. The way she can effortlessly combo and dodge all attacks makes her a fearsome opponent. 

Axel: Mario Kart. Axel is pretty average at video games (unless they’re like, retro or arcade) but Mario Kart? He’s on it like Donkey Kong. He mains Funky Kong. 

Saix: He has two wolves inside him- the logical gamer and the second, more absurd gamer. Sometimes he wants to unwind, so he might pick up a basic platformer like Mario or Sonic, but on the other side- he’s a menace in a Warriors game. He’s hacking and slashing. He’s killing everyone in his path. Also, he’s a completionist.  He has to get the best markings and everything. Won’t settle for less. 

Wayfinder Trio: 

Terra: Minecraft and fighting games. He tries his best lmao. He’s just got pretty big hands so often he messes up with combos but he’s also pretty impatient and tends to spam certain moves.

Aqua: Rhythm games definitely. Watch her effortlessly get all perfect scores in one try. Even the hardest OSU! map has nothing on Aqua. She also kicks ass at fighting games. 

Ventus: He likes Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games and Mario Party. He always loses at almost any game against his friends though. 

Bonus Characters: 

Namine: I feel like she enjoys visual novels and Okami. She really loves aesthetic games and is a patient player. 

Xemnas: does not play video games beyond Candy Crush or Solitaire. You kids and your “Splatoons” or “Bayonettas”, go pick up an old Final Fantasy game smh. 

Xigbar: Call of Duty. Fortnite. PUBG. Overwatch. He’s a menace and plays all sorts of FPS games. His sniping abilities IRL translate very well into games. Also likes the Hitman games. 

Vexen: Bookworm and civilization manager games. He’s big on Age of Empires and is a top talent within the community. He loves playing as the Vikings or Mayans for competitive play. He’s also made many custom maps. 

Zexion: Tower Defense managers and Ace Attorney. He loves deducing the crime or finding the best way to defend his base with the minimum amount of units possible. 

Xaldin: He doesn’t play games (lie). He plays romantic visual novels. Plays all kinds of them. Otomes too. He is a lonely man. Also loves cooking games. 

Lexaeus: farming games. He just has a fun time playing Story of Seasons. Rune Factory is nice too but he prefers SoS because he loves the farming aspect more. 

Demyx: Guitar Hero. No argument. This man did all the crazy achievements and was going at it for days.

Luxord: Yeah yeah solitaire and gambling- have you considered he loves playing the Yakuza games? Well now you do. He loves the games dearly and cherishes them and likes to be the biggest Yakuza on the block. Also yeah, he plays lot of gacha games. 

Marluxia: Doesn’t really play video games, but he’d most likely play some horror games with Larxene or town management games. 

Larxene: Horror games or multiplayer games where she can troll people. Banned from multiple servers and people refuse to play with her minus Marluxia. Aesthetically though she loves Trish from DMC and thinks Vergil is number one.

Marvel Rivals. (Closed Alpha)

...It's pretty much Overwatch with Marvel's cast. A lot of people went into this thinking it'd be a cash grab, but we were greeted with a very well made game.

Initially teased through this image, a lot of people thought it was for a mobile game, or some sort of collab. The stylization here made me think this was a mobile project. "Marvel never puts this kind of sauce on the front lines.", i thought.

Come a day later, Marvel Rivals is formally revealed. This game's premise has a lot to do with the multiverse, bringing characters from all over to fight. One thing i do like about this is that a lot of these characters are inspired more from their comic book origins, rather than the more popular MCU. Wanda is actually Magneto's daughter, and their origins are more familiar to readers.

For one, the visuals are AMAZING. It's not even funny. The character design is killer, having that edge and wackiness that you'd expect from a comicbook. Going into this personally, i was worried they'd use the MCU's tired design sensibilities. None of that is here. Each of these characters look as if they've jumped off of the pages, each represented with beautiful artwork. This mix of realism and stylization is the shit i live for.

The same applies to the game's 3D models as well. They're perfect recreations of the artstyle. Animations are top notch as well.

The maps look great too, with each one having a specific context that may even include characters that aren't playable, like Spider-Zero! The maps also have unique entrance animations that play into the story being told.

The gameplay had some serious work put into it. Each hero may seem familiar, but they each have something that makes them unique. There's things unique to this game, like team up abilities. When you start a match with two characters that can "team up", both players will get an animation play on their screen.

They're mostly passive abilities that can make your character play better. Some of them are more mechanical too, with rocket being able to hop on Groot's (another player) back.

Obviously, this game is here to challenge Overwatch. Most that have tried in the past have either failed or didnt get the chance, but... i think this one actually has a shot. If it's this good in alpha, god knows what a full release will look like. We're not even at the beta.

Overwatch 2 Season 4 Event Roadmap Breakdown

Season 4 of Overwatch 2 is keeping things going strong with a lot of events in the coming months! The season starts next Tuesday on April 11th, and will end on June 13th.

The season's headliners are the new Support hero Lifeweaver, and a Space Opera event theme with a corresponding event mode (more on that later) and many new skins and cosmetics to match, including the (imo sick as hell) Mythic skin: Galactic Emperor Sigma.

This season is jam-packed with new event modes, so let's go down the schedule for what we got in store these next nine weeks!

B.O.B. and Weave (April 11 to April 25): Starting off the season, this is a 3v3 mode where all players are Lifeweaver, and each team has to use his Lifegrip ability to move their respective friendly B.O.B. across the map to defeat enemies. Playing during this event will let you unlock the Cassia epic skin for Lifeweaver.

New Talantis Map (April 25 to May 1): Right after that, we get to play on the first ever community-made Overwatch map! Well, kinda. This (visually rudimentary) sub-aquatic map was created during the "Twitch makes Overwatch" stream back in December, and is going to be playable in the Arcade for a limited time.

Starwatch (May 9 to May 22): The season's headlining theme event, this 4v4 event will have teams fighting in a reworked Horizon Lunar Colony, taking allegiance to either the Watchers or the Infinite Empire to fight for control over the galaxy! The event is also getting an accompanying comic for its self-contained story!

Symmetra Challenge (May 23 to May 29): Not a ton of details, but this event is supposedly spring-themed, and lets you unlock the Gardener legendary Symmetra skin.

Battle for Olympus Returns (also May 23 to May 29): At the same time, Battle for Olympus returns, with a new Team Deathmatch variant as well! Have fun yelling at your team for not picking the singular healer option.

Pride Event (June 1 to...?): Least details for the last event of the season, Overwatch's first ever proper Pride event starts June 1st! More details are planned to be released later.

And that's what we got in store this season! A lot on the agenda this time around, with back-to-back-to-back events almost nonstop!

Between Widow, Hanzo, Ash, and Ana

I am so hungry for a sniper who's like

"Ehhh... I'm not that great of a shot."

I understand Hanzo has that whole: 'I was better with a sword.'

But-

I want a sniper who's humility and genuine thoughts are that they could never go up against one of the greatest snipers of the world or 'formerly', as Widow says. But actually have decent skill.

They don't even have to be a sniper, hell, they could've dropped the whole sniping thing-

Does something cool and Ana just has a surprised Pikachu face, and the hero is like:

"eh, I'm sure you've done better, it's fine"

I've been brewing with chaotic headcanons all day. Can you tell?

I think the closest character we have to that right now is Cassidy, he isn't as competitive as the other four when it comes to his aim and is even prone to compliment the other fours aim. He actively complements Widow's aim when she gets an elim, compliments Hanzo's aim regularly, says Ana is the only person who could out aim him, the only person he get competitive with is Ashe and even then that was when they were kids.

Even then though it's just the fact he isn't as competitive as those four, he still takes a lot of pride in his aim, he admits that he isn't the best but he still admits that he's a good shot.

Honestly a sniper character who has more modesty then pride, or is just kind of insecure (cause honestly who wouldn't be when you have to snipe against Ana and Widow), would be a breath of fresh air compared to literally everyone else.

I could see this character being a next generation character, either being around Illari's age or even younger, being a completely new recruit to the new Overwatch after the events of the game. If it's the Illari option I could genuinly see them being a character who picked up sniping either because of the Invasion or just because of Overwatch falling.

And I would love to see this character interact with other snipers, cause I think Widow would be a bit awkward cause they wouldn't be challenging her skill, same with Hanzo, and if we go with the little bit insecure route then I the Ashe, Ana and Cassidy would try and give them some confidence.
